were able to officiate at the 2016 National Games in West Palm Beach Florida. 

       

Youth Referee Staff

"Ref for the kids, even if you are one!!" - Nikolas Fantocone

Part of our youth program emphasizes on the importance of communication, support, mentoring and self improvement.
Our youth referees also contribute to our community thus able to use time as credits for community service in high school programs. As a youth, you will build your knowledge with help from peers as well as a youth coordinators to help you along your way. Along with the referee staff, all our youth are treated with kindness and respect and full support from the entire region.
There is a Zero Tolerance rule with rude spectators and is strictly enforced for our youth referees. 

 
As a youth referee you WILL:                                                                        
  • Have full support of the administrative staff
  • Will provide you with step by step training
  • BE ABLE TO COUNT ALL YOUR TIME AS COMMUNITY SERVICE
  • Be the next generation of AYSO leaders


As a youth referee you will NOT:

  • Have to referee any games until you're ready
  • Referee upper divisional games
  • Have to confront any unsportsmanlike like conduct from spectators

How to Become a referee

To be become a youth referee, you will need to follow the steps below:

  • Submit a volunteer application as a Youth Volunteer
  • Attend and PASS the Regional Referee Companion Course (online course plus a classroom portion)
  • Upon completion you will receive a full uniform and badge as a Regional Referee. 

All classes, uniform and equipment is FREE of charge; all we ask is for a bit of your time as volunteers to help officiate games. 

You will also be monitored and given feedback from our Youth Mentors throughout the season at your request.

UPGRADES

 If you would like to upgrade you badge, these are the age requirements:

  • Upgrade to Intermediate Badge – Candidate must be 14 years or older
  • Upgrade to Advance Badge – Candidate must be 16 years or older

UNIFORM

After completing the requirements, you will be asked to give your sizes to issue your uniform. A uniform will consist of

  • yellow referee jersey
  • black referee shorts
  • black long socks with white stripes
  • whistle
  • referee quick reference book
  • Regional Referee badge
  • Coin
You are required to supply the following:
  • soccer cleats or turf shoes(black preferred but not mandatory )
  • a digital watch with timer (no cell phones on the field)
